Rotherham United Women proudly showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month during Sunday’s fixture.

Together, the team decided to wear pink armbands during the game to help raise awareness and show the club’s support for the month-long campaign.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the UK, providing an important opportunity to raise awareness, encourage people to regularly check their breasts and remind everyone that support is available for those affected by breast cancer.

Rotherham United Women captain Lauren Winter stressed the importance of using the month to encourage conversations and greater awareness.

Lauren said: “Breast Cancer Awareness Month is incredibly important because it reminds us all to look after ourselves and each other.

“Knowing your own body and knowing how to check your breasts is so important. If you notice something that doesn’t feel right or you’re worried about a change, please don’t be afraid to speak to someone or get it checked.

“There is support available and nobody should ever feel like they have to face those worries alone. If us wearing pink armbands helps remind even one person to check themselves or have that conversation, then it’s absolutely worthwhile.”

The team’s decision to wear pink was a simple but visible way of standing alongside those affected by breast cancer and helping to spread an important message throughout the Rotherham United Women community.
