1. Purpose

1.1 To ensure all staff, volunteers, and representatives use social media and messaging platforms responsibly, professionally, and in line with safeguarding and FA guidance.

2. Scope

2.1 This policy applies to all official team accounts and any personal accounts that impact the team’s reputation. It covers social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok) and messaging apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.).

3. Who Can Post

3.1 Only designated staff may manage official team accounts.

3.2 Accounts must use team branding and be accessed via shared credentials on club devices.

3.3 No personal accounts should be used for official communication.

4. Safeguarding & FA Guidance

4.1 Staff must not follow, friend, or privately message players under 18 on personal accounts.

4.2 Communication with minors must only occur through official channels or approved group chats monitored by staff.

4.3 No sharing of personal contact details of players or staff.

5. Messaging Apps (WhatsApp, etc.)

5.1 Use only for professional purposes (e.g., team logistics, match info).

5.2 Group chats should be created and managed by designated staff and include at least one safeguarding officer or responsible adult.

5.3 No one-to-one messaging with under-18 players.

5.4 No sharing of inappropriate content, jokes, or personal opinions.

6. Acceptable Conduct

6.1 Do not post confidential information (team selection, injuries, transfers).

6.2 No criticism of the club, players, officials, or partners.

6.3 No comments, shares or likes of social media posts by anyone under the age of 18.

6.4 No political, religious, or offensive content. Maintain respectful tone at all times.

7. Personal Use

7.1 Anything posted privately that damages the team’s reputation can lead to disciplinary action.

8. Reporting

8.1 Report abuse, safeguarding concerns, or inappropriate content immediately to the safeguarding officer.

9. FA Betting Rules

9.1 Do not post or share anything that could breach FA betting regulations (e.g., team news, injuries).
