Rotherham United Women are delighted to confirm the appointment of former Rotherham United captain Ryan Cresswell as the club’s new Chief Operating Officer.

The appointment follows an agreement being reached with Doncaster Rovers for the ex-Millers’ star’s release. Cresswell will begin his role with immediate effect.

Born in Rotherham, the centre half represented his hometown club across two spells and captained the Millers, before going on to build extensive experience within the game as a player, coach and manager.

Since moving into coaching and management, he has worked across both the men’s and women’s game, including roles with Matlock Town and Sheffield FC.

As Chief Operating Officer, Cresswell will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and continued development of Rotherham United Women, working closely with the club’s ownership, football and operational teams.

His appointment forms a significant part of the club’s long-term strategy as RUWFC continues to strengthen its infrastructure, raise professional standards and build for sustainable growth both on and off the pitch.

Alongside his role with RUWFC, Cresswell will continue his coaching career within the men’s game, taking up an assistant manager position with a National League North club.

The arrangement will allow him to continue developing his coaching career at senior level while bringing that experience and knowledge back into his role at Rotherham United Women.
