MATCh report: Harrogate Town 0-3 Rotherham United

Hat-trick hero Jasmine Saxton fired Rotherham United Women to a fourth win in a row as the Millers extended their unbeaten run with a 3-0 victory in North Yorkshire.

It took until after the break for the deadlock to be broken but the result was put beyond doubt by three fine finishes from Saxton, who took her tally for the season to five.

The first came when she latched onto a ball into the area and poked past the onrushing home keeper Katie Mortimer, while the second was a stooping header from an inviting Sophia Swan cross.

Saxton saved the best for last, taking Lauryn Wilcock’s centre in her stride and opening up her body before curling a sweet strike into the top corner.

It was no more than the pacy forward deserved for yet another top-class display for the Millers.

The game could have been over by half-time, as Chenè Muir and Hannah McWilliams struck the woodwork and Laura Bartup passed up two inviting chances of her own.

Ellie Sharpe had to be alert in the Millers goal to save smartly with her left foot, and Harrogate tested the visiting defence with a series of inswinging corners.

But the breakthrough was deserved when it came and Rotherham never looked back from that point.

Mortimer was called into action several times, and Bartup headed another fine Swan cross narrowly wide.

By the time Swan was flagged offside as she rifled home, the game was over as a contest, with the Millers marching to another win which leaves them three points behind leaders Birtley Town with a game in hand.
