Rotherham Hospice Community Stadium is the place to be this Sunday.

It’s the start of a new era for Rotherham United Women – and we want the whole town there with us.

To celebrate Rotherham Day, admission is free for everyone.

There will be face painting fun for kids and we’ll also be proudly supporting Rotherham Hospice, helping raise awareness and funds for an organisation that means so much to our community.

On the pitch, we welcome Spennymoor Town for our first home league game of the season as we look to build on our fantastic 4-1 win away to South Shields last Sunday.

Head of football Ash Thompson and the coaching team have added quality and experience to a squad which challenged for promotion last season, with one clear aim – winning the league.

Clinical strikers Jasmine Saxton, Laura Bartup and Stacey Buxton bring fresh firepower, while midfielders Hannah McWilliams and Lauren Winter will add National League experience at the centre of the park.

Defenders Eden Hinchliffe, Becky Kendell and Pip Cassidy offer extra style and steel at the back, keeper Ellie Sharpe is a safe pair of hands between the sticks and winger Laryn Wilcock will add flair and skill down the flanks.

It all adds up to a RUWFC squad brimming with talent, pace and determination.

We received a wonderful warm welcome from the New York Stadium crowd before the last home game against Chesterfield and it would be great to see as many Millers as possible in the stands for our home debut this season.

Kick-off is at 2pm at the Rotherham Hospice Community Stadium (Parkgate FC).
