Rotherham United Women are inviting supporters, families and the wider community to be part of the start of an exciting new chapter as the club hosts a free pre-season friendly on Sunday August 2

Hosted at the Rotherham Hospice Community Stadium in Rawmarsh, the afternoon will give supporters their first opportunity to see the new-look Millers in action, with several exciting new signings expected to feature for the first time.

Since Rotherham United Women came under new ownership this summer, significant work has been taking place behind the scenes to build a club that the people of Rotherham can be proud of.

From strengthening the playing squad and coaching staff to improving the matchday experience, the focus is on creating a successful, welcoming and sustainable club for the whole community.

The Millers kick off at 12pm against Dronfield Town Women.

With free admission and free parking, the club is encouraging supporters of all ages to come along, enjoy an afternoon of football and help launch a new era for women’s football in Rotherham.

Co-owner Scott Thorpe said: “Our ambition is clear. We want to win the league, play exciting attacking football and build a club that Rotherham can be proud of.

“We’ve invested on and off the pitch because we believe this club has huge potential. We’ve welcomed some fantastic new players, strengthened the team behind the scenes and laid the foundations for long-term success.

“But this isn’t just about what happens on the pitch. We want to build a real community club where families feel welcome, young girls are inspired to play football and supporters genuinely feel part of the journey.

“Whether you’ve followed us for years or you’re coming along for the very first time, we’d love to welcome you on Sunday. This is the start of something special, and we want the whole town to be part of it.”
