Valerie Hoyle appointed lifetime Club Ambassador

Rotherham United Women FC is delighted to announce that Valerie Hoyle has accepted the position of Club Ambassador, a lifetime appointment recognising her outstanding service, loyalty and commitment to the club.

Val has dedicated many years to RUWFC and has played an important role in supporting the club, its players and the continued growth of women’s football in Rotherham. She was awarded the British Empire Medal last year for services to women’s football.

As the club begins an exciting new chapter, the owners and board felt it was important that Val remained part of its future and that her contribution was formally recognised.

In her new role, Val will represent RUWFC at selected matches, community activities, public events and important club occasions.

She will also help promote the club’s values, celebrate its history and strengthen relationships with supporters, partners and the wider community.

RUWFC Chair Francesca Ross said: “Val has given so much to Rotherham United Women FC, and we are honoured that she has agreed to continue her journey with the club as our Club Ambassador.

“She cares deeply about RUWFC and has always represented the club with passion and pride.

“As we enter such an exciting period, it is important that we retain a strong connection with the people who have played an important role in the club’s history.

“This appointment is our opportunity to formally recognise Val’s contribution and thank her for everything she has done.”

RUWFC co-owner Scott Thorpe said: “When Phil and I became involved with the club, we were clear that moving forward could never mean forgetting the people who had helped keep RUWFC going.

“Val has given years of her life to this football club. Her loyalty, commitment and genuine love for RUWFC deserve to be recognised properly.

“We have huge ambitions for the club, both on and off the pitch, but football clubs are ultimately about people.

“Val is part of the fabric of RUWFC, and we are delighted that she will remain part of our journey as our lifetime Club Ambassador.

“On behalf of everyone connected with the club, I would like to say a sincere thank you to Val for everything she has done and continues to do.”

Valerie said: “I am pleased and honoured to accept the position of Club Ambassador at Rotherham United Women FC.

“I am passionate about the club and will always aim to represent and promote RUWFC in a positive and professional manner.

“This is an exciting time for the club, and I look forward to supporting its future ambitions while continuing to celebrate its history and everything it means to the people involved.

“I would like to thank the owners, Chair and board for offering me this role. I look forward to continuing to support the club, its players and everyone involved in the journey ahead.”

Val will be provided with official RUWFC clothing to wear when representing the club at matches, events and community activities.

Her appointment reflects RUWFC’s commitment to respecting its history while building an ambitious future focused on footballing success, community engagement and creating opportunities for women and girls across Rotherham.
