U23s impressive second-half comeback to secure 3–2 victory
Rotherham United Women U23s produced an impressive second-half comeback to secure a 3–2 victory over Millmoor, making it back-to-back league wins.
Despite falling behind early in the contest, the Millers responded positively and enjoyed much of the possession throughout the opening 45 minutes. However, despite creating opportunities and enjoying spells of dominance, Rotherham went into the interval trailing 1–0.
The U23s emerged for the second half with renewed determination, immediately increasing the tempo and putting the visitors under pressure.
Indie Bonsall sparked the comeback with a well-deserved equaliser before Ruby Draper converted from the penalty spot to put Rotherham ahead.
Isla Clarkson then added a third to complete an impressive turnaround and give the Millers a 3–1 advantage.
Millmoor managed to pull a goal back to reduce the deficit, setting up a tense finish. However, Rotherham demonstrated resilience, determination and excellent teamwork to see out the game and secure all three points.
The result marks consecutive victories for the U23s, providing further momentum as they continue their league campaign.
Indie Bonsall was named Player of the Match following an outstanding second-half display.
Operating down the left flank, Bonsall proved a constant attacking threat, using her pace, direct running and attacking intent to cause problems for the Millmoor defence.
Her goal proved the catalyst for Rotherham's comeback, capping an excellent individual performance and helping the U23s secure another important victory.
