Penalties and a supersub showing seal League Cup wins

It took a penalty shootout but we sealed our place in the League Cup second round in stormy conditions at Gainsborough Trinity.

The game ended 1-1 on 90 minutes after Amanda Millar equalised a late goal by the hosts and extra-time failed to separate the sides.

And after the nerve-shredding tie-breaker, it was the Millers who emerged victorious by a 7-6 margin.

Meanwhile, supersub Amy Caddick’s double sank Middlewood Rovers Junior in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women’s and Girls’ League Cup.

Caddick fired the Young Millers to a 2-1 win at Herringthorpe Stadium.

The sub’s two second-half goals proved the difference – with the second coming in stoppage time.

Tom Napper’s side managed to hold off Middlewood, despite a last-minute strike from the visitors’ goalkeeper.

The result maintains the Under-21s’ impressive start to the season which also sees them topping the league table
